Our Story

Hi! I’m Carol, the daughter of this Mother/Daughter duo in our tiny slice of the blogosphere world.

I’m a Maryland Girl, born and raised. But, if I could move anywhere else in this wide, wide world of ours, it would be NYC. It just feels like I belong there, my happy place. If it’s cold and snowy, I am deliriously content. When Summer rolls around, all I want to do is either sit in the icy, cool air conditioning or oceanfront with my feet in the sand. That’s not too much to ask for, is it? Coconut cake or lemon meringue pie and a great cup of coffee are my kryptonite; I will be putty in your hands!

I think most people that know me personally, outside of cyberspace, would definitely say I’m a homebody; a creative, bargain-hunting homebody! I have always loved being at home, creating a beautiful space and welcoming family and friends into my home. This is 100% something that is in those ol’ genes of mine, because it came directly from my mom. But, the absolute very favorite part of home for me has without a doubt been the people I’ve shared that home with – my family.

One of the things that makes our Mother/Daughter partnership so unique is our relationship. We are friends, the best of friends. But, more than that deep friendship, we’ve both experienced great loss (the death of both of our husbands) in our personal lives that drew us even closer together. And from this bond comes our love for so many of the same things about creating a space that can be More than a Home.

Our hope and prayer is that you feel inspired and encouraged after stopping by.

Hi, I’m Marilyn. Some have called me a Country Girl because I was born and raised on a farm in New Jersey, but I’ve lived the suburban life since the young age of 21. Making a home with my family in the suburbs just felt right for me. Now, don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t trade growing up on a farm and farm life for anything. It was a great way to grow up.

All the hospitality, creativity and love of home was instilled in me from my mother. I’ve hopefully done a good job of passing that down to my daughter and granddaughters.

Black is my absolute favorite color, even though they say it’s not really a color. (Who are they and who made them the rule makers anyway?) My husband always called me “Ruby Reds”, so I guess that must mean a bright statement lip color would be my signature. I absolutely adore time spent with my children and grandchildren more than anything. Helping people, no matter what it may be, thrills my heart! So, having a platform like this blog enables me to share, encourage and hopefully inspire people like you.

We are all created with God-given gifts and abilities to use for Him each day and my desire and my daughter’s, is to do just that.

Thanks for stopping by! We always welcome suggestions and comments, so feel free to send them our way.
